May We Meet Again Teaser

In medical, I was working alongside Carlisle to patch up and fix the survivors. Broken bones, lacerations and contusions flooded medical. There were a few severe injuries, which we monitored closely. To be honest, we didn’t want to perform surgery when the gravity was on the fritz. The engineers, including my husband, were working to fix the Ark, but it was a fruitless endeavor.

It was beyond all repairs. Also, the computer engineers and security officers were trying to break Aro’s encryption code, but it was a fruitless endeavor at the moment. We couldn’t do anything until we had complete control of the Ark.

“Time of death,” Carlisle muttered, closing Daniel Hale’s eyes, “Thirteen twenty-five.”

“Damn it,” I sneered, shaking my head. “I thought he had a chance.”

“A pulmonary embolus dislodged and traveled to his brain,” Carlisle answered grimly. “It was a ticking time bomb, only a matter of …” He covered the body with a sheet.

Sighing, I walked over to Daniel, murmuring a prayer of peace and goodbye. His wife had died in the initial destruction of the Ark, thanks to the departure of the Exodus ship. Daniel, despite being battered and bruised, carried his shattered wife to medical, only to collapse in grief when we pronounced her dead. He never regained consciousness, joining her in eternal rest.

The lights flickered before coming on fully, along with all the computer consoles.

The comm system beeped and a voice filtered through the Ark. “This is Chief Engineer Sinclair. We’ve broken through encryption and have gained eighty-five percent control of what’s remaining of the Ark. Chancellor Swan and Vice Chancellor Cullen, please report to the command center.”

Carlisle looked at me, taking off his surgical gear. “I’ll get Dr. Foster to come down here and help with the injuries,” he explained. “When you’re done, get Esme and join us in the command center. You’ve got about an hour or two until you get everyone here.”

“Go,” I urged, practically pushing him out the door.

He left and I worked with the nurses to treat the wounded. Alec came in with Esme with more injured. We worked together to help them, but we were quickly running out of medications and farm station, which held all of our medicinal herbs and such, was one of the casualties of Aro’s madness.

May We Meet Again Teaser

“Marcus to Carlisle and Charlie,” chirped our communicators. He sounded somewhat panicked. “It’s Aro …”

Charlie stepped back, pressing his communicator to his ear. “What about him? He’s caused enough damage to the Ark!”

“He’s not in his quarters,” Marcus hissed. “He had help and he’s gone.”

“Check the drop ship,” Charlie hissed. “He may be making a play for …”

Over the intercoms, Aro’s disembodied voice filled the promenade, “Too late, Chancellor. The Exodus ship is mine and if you want to live, join me. You have one hour. Anyone who wants to leave the Ark, and get away from Chancellor Swan’s lies …” A countdown flickered onto the screens.

Fifty-nine minutes, fifty-nine seconds … fifty-eight … fifty-seven …

“Is this for real?” I asked, stepping closer to my husband.

On his tablet, Charlie looked at his screen, trying to get verification. “It is. What’s worse is that the Exodus ship is still tethered to the Ark. All the lines are connected and, if he tries to leave, he will completely disable us.” He blinked at crowd, completely flummoxed. “We’ll be dead in the water.”

Carlisle jumped into action. “We need to disengage the umbilical lines to the Exodus ship. Go! Now!”

The promenade broke out into chaos. People ran off and I stood next to my husband, who was clearly at a loss. I noticed he was holding his stomach, breathing frantically. “Charlie? Talk to me.”

“We should have floated him. Now, he’s floating us all,” he whispered, looking at me starkly. “I’m so sorry, Ren … I can’t …” He grimaced.

“Not yet, Charlie,” I said, taking his pale, sweaty face into my hands. “We’ve got an hour. We can stop this. We have to …”

He slid his arms around my waist, pressing his lips to mine harshly. Taking my hand, we left the promenade, making our way to the command center. The security team was trying, fruitlessly, to get inside since Aro obviously got help to take control of the Exodus ship. He had people in the command center.

Or so we thought.

My communicator vibrated and I picked it up, seeing Alec’s face. “Alec? What is it? We’re dealing with a …”

“I’m inside the command center,” he interrupted, hissing quietly. “I was checking on the kids on the surface. I was granted access because of my medical clearance. I also got a radio and video signal from the drop ship.”

“Are they okay?” I asked, trying not to cry. Had he spoken to Bella? Was she okay?

“They’re on their way to Mount Weather. Well, most of them,” he answered. “A handful are remaining at the drop ship, but Bella got them into the government installation.”

“Why were they delayed?” Charlie questioned.

“There was a storm, a hurricane,” Alec replied. “I would have mentioned something, but with all that was going on … I didn’t. I’m so sorry. I’ve spoken to Rosalie Hale and Jessica Stanley. As of this morning, they were beginning their trek to Mount Weather.”

Worth the Fight Teaser

Edward, after a short nap to reinvigorate his weary soul, ordered some room service and spent the rest of the night thinking about the beautiful Bella Swan. She was strong, smart and beyond gorgeous. Hell, after dinner, he wrapped his hand around his cock and had one of the best self-served orgasm he’d had in years. All because he was picturing Bella as he disappeared inside her …

You’re turning into a pervert, Masen.

The orgasm also helped with his headache, too.

He was flipping through the channels, watching the news, and trying not to think of Bella. His phone rang from the nightstand, making him jump. “Masen,” he answered brusquely.

“So friendly, Edward,” Marcus teased. “Are you settled in Seattle?”

“In a hotel, yes,” he laughed. “I’m going in search of an apartment tomorrow. The general manager of the gym is helping me out since I’m flying blind, at the moment.”

“How did you like Charlie?” Marcus asked. “When we first opened Volterra, Charlie fought in Chicago, and I met him when he needed stitches in his eyebrow. Great fighter, but the sweatiest human alive, though.”

“I liked him. He has so much more integrity and class than your brothers, Marcus,” Edward replied. “I also liked Carlisle Cullen, but I have to ask, why didn’t you tell me about that thing on my scans? That contusion?”

“It’s called a hematoma,” Marcus explained.

“You knew about it?” Edward pressed.

“I didn’t. I swear, but the name of what you have is called a hematoma,” Marcus murmured. “My brothers watch every move I make and if I’d scheduled more intense scans, they would have known. I’m sorry for not giving you the best care possible, but in a way I was trying to protect you. Aro and Caius, they would have … forced you to fight and we both know what would have happened if you had. Then, they’d cut you loose and leave you destitute, saying that you were unable to fulfill your contract, taking you to court.”

“So, you were trying to protect me,” Edward sighed.

“In a way. I’m surprised that Dr. Clearwater didn’t share his findings with Caius or Aro,” Marcus huffed.

“As soon as I woke up, I told him, explicitly, to not speak to Caius, Aro or Victoria,” Edward said. “It appears that he followed through on my request.”

“Aro, I said I’m not ready!” Edward argued, standing up and pacing his agent’s office angrily. “I’m still dealing with these awful migraines and dizziness. Marcus said I was ready to train. I’m nowhere near ready to fight.”

“We’ve been flexible, Edward,” Aro placated. “We allowed you to rehab on your own, with your own people. Though, Caius is not happy with your progress.”

“Caius no longer has a say in my career, Aro. I told you this,” Edward gritted out. “I don’t trust him. Not after … that debacle with Demetri.”

“Caius said he did not do anything to harm you,” Aro argued, arching a dangerous brow at his prized fighter. “You’re our biggest fighter, Edward. Why would we sabotage you? You’ve made us very rich. Most of this building was renovated thanks to your stellar reputation.”

“I wouldn’t be surprised if you have another stellar fighter moving up the pipeline and you want them to take my spot,” Edward suggested. “I may be a fighter, but I’m not like a majority of those guys in the gym. I graduated, first in my class, with a degree in business. I have a brain.”

“You do, Edward,” Aro nodded, but in his mind, he was shocked that Edward had even suggested that they had another fighter waiting in the wings. He was also surprised that Edward had figured out why he’d been injured … Demetri had been chosen specifically and given the tools to beat Edward with the brass knuckles, including an inebriated prize fighter. Caius, however, was sloppy. He put too much sedative in Edward’s water, making the fight end sooner rather than later.

A mistake that cost them millions.

Volterra Fighting Club

Balancing his workout bag on his shoulder, Edward glanced up at Volterra Fighting Club. It was a high-end, elite boxing gym that was the home to several champions. However, Edward was not as comfortable continuing his contract with the Volturi. The only one he trusted was Marcus.

Caius, who had been his coach since he became a professional boxer, lost that trust. With the situation surrounding that last fight, Edward would rather walk away.

Aro, Caius’s older brother and Edward’s agent, also lost his trust because he was not concerned with the migraines Edward experienced daily while he recovered from the beat down he’d received from the blacklisted Demetri Romanoff.

Marcus had been his only ally and advocate.

“Do I even want to continue to do this?” Edward asked, looking at the gym.

He’d only gotten into boxing to pay for his freedom. His father, after his mother died, became worthless. He was a drunk and lost everything, including Edward’s college fund. So, he had to find a way to get money and working at McDonald’s would not give him the opportunity to go to college. He got a scholarship to Northwestern since he was smart as hell, but he could not afford it, even with the scholarship.

All that changed when he found a flyer for an amateur fight where the winning purse was well over $20,000. Edward was not a fighter, but he had dabbled in wrestling and was quick on his feet. He scraped together the entrance fee and watched as many YouTube videos as possible. The night he graduated from high school, Edward won that purse and was able to leave the dump he’d lived in with his loser father. He left a thousand dollars to help his dad, but after that, Edward Sr. was no longer his concern.

With the rest of his winnings, he was able to pay for his first semester of university, a small apartment, and books for his classes. Edward continued his amateur fights, bankrolling his education and making a name for himself. He majored in business, with a minor in finance, graduating first in his class.

Fire of Your Soul Update

FOYS Ch. 16 on FFn

The drive to The Stockyards seemed to take forever. Charlie was in no shape to drive. He was an anxious mess. Edward sped through the streets of Seattle to get to the condo complex. People were not moving over as the Battalion Chief’s SUV siren’s blared, and lights flashed. Edward laid on the horn, screaming in frustration at the stupidity of people.

Didn’t they know that they needed to move over to the right for emergency vehicles?

Arriving at The Stockyards, Edward parked the SUV haphazardly. Both he and Charlie threw on a turnout coat and picked up helmets from the back of the SUV. They didn’t have full gear. Pants and oxygen masks were not inside. They didn’t think to grab them when they flew out of the station.

All that mattered was getting to Bella and Renee.

“Do you think we should take the elevators?” Edward asked.

“I don’t want to risk it,” Charlie frowned. He pushed into the lobby and they ran to the stairwell. The fire alarms were going off and there were people running down the steps. “Where’s the fire? What floor?”

“Penthouse,” coughed one person.

“No, not there,” said someone else. “I live on the penthouse level and the air was clear. It was around the tenth floor.”

“Thank you,” Charlie said, pushing past them and he began running up the steps, taking two at a time. As they ran up the steps, the air grew thicker and smokier. When they hit the eighth floor, they could barely see inches in front of their faces. They checked the hallway, seeing if they saw flames.

Once they reached the tenth floor, the smoke was noxious and the sounds of flames licking the walls was deafening. Edward really wished for an oxygen mask and a full set of gear. Charlie was probably wishing for the same. They both were coughing, but they couldn’t stop now.

Bella and Renee … they needed them.

Despite the heavy smoke, they found the condo. Charlie felt the doorknob, checking to see if the fire had spread to the entrance. It was warm, but not overly hot. He looked at the man who’d fallen for his daughter, sharing a look. They were in this … together.
