30 Days of FanFic

I’ve been doing this in my Facebook group: Tufano79′s Twilight Fanfiction Appreciation. TwiFanfiction Recs has created a 30 Days of Fic calendar to get us through this uncertain time. You can check out the days here.

Day #22: A fic that makes you sad.

It doesn't make me sad, but writing it helped me with my sadness in losing my mom ... Picking Up the Pieces by me.

Isabella Black lost her husband in the cruelest way possible. Jacob wasted away by the evil, silent killer, cancer. A year after his death, Bella packs up her home in Phoenix and drives back to Forks, Washington. Will she finally find a way to pick up the pieces with the help of her family, friends and a green-eyed cop?

Day #23: A fic that deserves a sequel.

This is tough for me. The stories that are stand alone are perfect the way they are. The ones that have sequels or are series are perfect, too.

However, in my FB group, Tufano79′s Twilight Fanfiction Appreciation, Charlie’s Voice by WeeKittyAndTAT deserves a sequel.

Summary: Edward Cullen moves home after the mother of his son leaves them. Meeting Dr. Swan is a bit of a shock, because she's not who he was expecting. Edward learns from the new doctor and she enlists his help in starting an informational blog. Charlie's Voice and little Charlie himself bring these two closer than either of them bargained for.

Day #24: A fic that reminds you of summer.

Tides of Fate, the iconic summer fic!

After four years in a bad relationship, and two years of depressed seclusion, Alice and Rosalie drag best friend Bella on a tropical vacation designed by fate. AH OOC. B/E, R/Em, A/J. Rated M for future lemony goodness and occasional strong lang.PLS R&R

Summer Vacation by Twireader81 ... I’ve not read this one because of the length (which is ironic because I’m a wordy bitch). But, it’s next on my TBR.

New couple, Bella and Edward, spend their summer break from university together in Forks, strengthening their relationship. Bella gets to know the Cullen family and becomes reacquainted with her dad. AH.

There’s also a couple of follow up stories to Summer Vacation. The first one is Summer Vacation, Back to Class.

Sequel to Summer Vacation. After an amazing four month break from school, Bella and Edward return to Seattle for another year of college, in love and engaged. Follow their new adventures as they plan a wedding and go back to class. AH

And a WIP, Summer Vacation: Happily Ever After.

The third in the Summer Vacation series. Bella and Edward's dream wedding has finally arrived. Join their celebration of life and love and family. Discover what their future holds and share in their happily ever after. After an extended hiatus, I'm back with weekly updates!

Day #25: A fic that is a classic favorite

Who can not forget Bella Swan: Kidnapper by Kambria Rain?

Um. Hi. I don’t really know how to say this, but I have your kids with me, and I was thinking maybe you would like them back. So yeah… call me.

For me, I adored The Angel Series by drotuno. The first one is The Angel Series: Broken Angel.

The FIRST in the Angel series. This is my version of New Moon and beyond if Edward didn't return for 2 years. Jacob is NOT the sweet boy everyone thinks he is. What kind of Bella did Edward come back to? How does she react? AU/OOC-somewhat...Future LEMONS! Rated M for a reason. R&R!

The second one is Angel’s Embrace.

The SECOND in the Angel series. We are continuing in the lives of the Cullens, during their senior year at Dartmouth, when some new things develop in their lives. Will Edward and Bella be able to deal with the changes? AU/slightly-OOC. Rated M...lemons, language, violence. Sequel to Broken Angel.

The third in the series is An Angel’s Promise.

The THIRD in the Angel series. We pick up where we last left off. Edward and Bella starting new in England...new friends, old friends...and lots of love, angst, and music. AU/slightly-OOC...and as always, lemons. Sequel to Broken Angel & Angel's Embrace.

The fourth one and the one that is most poignant, Haunted Angel.

The FOURTH in the Angel Series. Its a year later. When the Cullens move to a new home, Edward begins to hear something he can't explain. Is it a ghost or is he losing his mind? As always, there's love, angst, and music, plus old friends & new. AU/slightly-OOC Canon couples E/B Lemons/language

Day #26: A fic that is your guilty secret.

Any fic that I've read could be my guilty secret. I started reading FF after I'd read the saga more times than I could count. I needed more. Then, I read The Gentleman from Washington State, falling down a rabbit hole.

However, probably the one that is my biggest guilty secret is Master of the Universe (Fifty Shades of Grey.) I stayed up ALL night to read the entire thing in one go.

Day #27: A fic that should be made into a movie.

#TailWard ... Written in the Stars should totally be made into a movie.

Edward is king of a dying race, his planet torn by civil war. Bella is abducted to become his bride. From college student to Queen... Can she learn to love this strange man and help save his people? AU/OOC, Rated M

Fic of the Year

This year ... it has not been one of my most productive years. A combination of real-life stress, lack of writing mojo, and just feeling like writing fic was more of a job and not a hobby has really put me into a difficult position. Regardless of my reasons for my lack of productivity, I did manage to complete four stories in 2018.

These four stories are up for Fic of the Year on the TwiFanfictionRecs website. If you could take the time to vote for ONE of these stories. You can vote here. You can vote ONCE daily. Below are links of my stories, along with the story banners, created by Clo Rodeffer (The Magic Within, Married to the Mob and La Donna e Il Dottore) and Mina Rivera (Picking up the Pieces)

In a world where magic has ceased to exist for hundreds of years, a sole male possesses an unknown power. It slumbers deep within him, churning and pleaded to come out. But, he does not know what it is. He's an everyday, ordinary man, with a mediocre job and tiny apartment and an obnoxious downstairs neighbor. Edward Cullen does not know what is in store for him when something inside him awakens and makes him the most powerful man in the world.

Goodbye, mediocrity ...

She is like him, ordinary, mediocre and stuck in a loveless marriage to a monster where she endures his anger and rage. But, within her soul, is another type of energy. It keeps her alive and pushes her forward, but she wishes it would just go away. Isabella Black just wants to end the nightmare of her life and start new. Walking into a lawyer's office, she meets Edward Cullen and something between the two of them sparks. Not as a client and attorney. Something deeper ...

Could it be the magic within?

Edward Cullen is the heir-apparent to the most infamous crime families in Chicago. He was notorious for his time with his enemies, his many dates and his ruthless skill in the board room, the front for the illicit dealings of the Cullen Crime Consortium. However, to take over the family, his father reminded him about the stipulation that Edward needed to be married. Edward hated that stipulation, but he agreed to it and he had less than a year to make it a reality.

Isabella Swan is a struggling graduate student, working as a waitress in a local diner, The Swan Dive. On a chance meeting, Edward finds Bella to be enchanting and the perfect woman to marry. He makes an indecent proposal, suggesting marriage and paying for Bella’s tuition, and then some.

Will Bella accept his proposal, with the possibility of having her dreams come true, but married to a sexy, enigmatic rich businessman? Or will she figure out the truth, that her future-husband is Married to the Mob

La Donna e Il Dottore

Isabella Swan is the only daughter of Charlie Swan, the leader of the Swan Mafia Family. While out with her father, they are attacked by a rival family, The Wolf Pack and her father was critically injured. The family doctor was unavailable, and Bella is scrambling for a replacement. She called the person she’d least expect to help her.

Dr. Edward Cullen is working as an emergency room physician when he got a phone call from the girl he’d secretly loved all throughout college, but she kept him in the friend-zone, save for one drunken night. After that, she disappeared, and he hadn’t heard from her. Until this fateful night … And he found her much changed, hardened, scarred and angry. Charlie Swan’s life hangs in the balance, and the only person who can save him is Bella’s former friend and one-time lover.

Will Edward be able to save Charlie and stay away from the girl, who is now a woman and far more beautiful, despite the scarred and hardened exterior?

Eight Years Later … High School Graduation

“Seriously, John. Yellow is the worst color ever for graduation gowns,” Grace grumbled as she sat on my bed. Her legs were folded under her body and she looked pretty in a navy dress for my graduation. “At least, you can pull it off with the skin tone …”

“You’re not going to go all Aunt Alice with the fashionista talk, Grace,” I said, trying to put the mortar board on my head. Trying was the operative term. I was big. Like my dad. My biological dad … who was probably watching down from heaven. With a big body came a ginormous head. It made finding a helmet for football interesting, to be honest. “This thing is too damn small.”

“Don’t cuss,” Grace said, standing up and pulling out my desk chair. “It’ll fit, but your messy ‘do will be smushed.” Grace was petite like mom, with delicate features and half my size. She was also patient and loving like mom, but she’d adopted Dad’s calm demeanor, with a wry sense of humor. She stood on the desk chair, thrusting the mortar board onto my head. I grumbled. I’d worked hard on my hair. Now, it was plastered to my head. “Now who’s a fashionista, jackass?” she quipped. “Who are you trying to impress?”

“Don’t cuss,” I snorted. “And I wanted to look nice for Mom and Dad.”

“You suck at lying John Jacob Black-Cullen,” she snickered. “You blush. It’s your tell, brother bear.”

“I do not suck at lying,” I argued.
“And I’m a natural blonde,” Grace quipped, flipping her long,
nearly black curls over her shoulder before hopping off my chair. “I also know that you’re trying to impress someone. Could it be Nessie? You’ve been with her forever!” My blush deepened and scowled at my sister. “I knew it!”

“Get out of here, brat,” I laughed. “I want to run through my speech one more time.”

“Well, Mom and Dad want to take pictures as a family. Aunt Leah will be here in ten minutes,” Grace said, sliding out of my bedroom. I blew out a harsh breath of air. I looked around my room, seeing memories of my previous life in Arizona, our renewed life here in Forks and glimpses of my future – a full-ride scholarship to University of Washington on a football scholarship.

When we’d moved here after Dad’s death, Mom was … she was a mess. She was so sad and lonely, unable to sleep in a bed and just broken. She went through the motions of life until my second dad came into her life. Edward was her friend first, making her realize that she wasn’t destined to have lonely life, subsisting for just her children. He made her smile when they began dating and found true happiness and true love for the second time when they got married, a couple of weeks before my ninth birthday.

Now, don’t get me wrong … I love Edward. He accepted me and my sister as if we were his biological children, loving us from the moment he entered our lives. He adored my mom more than words could say, but our lives were filled with ups and downs. More ups than downs, thankfully. The biggest downs were the deaths of Nana Esme and Aunt Rebecca. Nana died shortly after Mom and Dad got married. Dad was understandably sad, but he focused his sadness into making his old house into a new home for us and our new baby sister, Olivia Anne. The renovations were a gift from Nana Esme, leaving money to Dad and money in a trust for both Grace and me.

Aunt Rebecca died right before I got my driver’s license, in a drunk driving accident. We were never particularly close with her because she was not happy that Mom had remarried. It devastated Poppy, though. He fell into a deep depression and moved in with Aunt Rachel, Uncle Ryan and their three children, Tia, Jacob (named after my dad) and Quil (a tribal name). Aunt Rebecca’s accident made my mother very nervous and she refused for me to get my license until the summer following my sixteenth birthday.

Well, that’s what she believed.

Dad took me to Port Angeles and I had my license, but never drove until the summer just to give Mom peace of mind. Dad was adamant that I’d have that rite of passage when it came to the driver’s license.

Probably the biggest up was when shortly after Mom had her second baby with Edward when I was twelve. They had  another girl, Alison Marie, named for her godmother, Aunt Alice. I didn’t like that Grace and I weren’t Cullen’s like our baby sisters. It bugged Grace more than me, but I could understand why. After Alison’s christening, Grace and I approached Mom and Dad, asking to discuss adoption. When Mom first married Dad, I didn’t want to lose my last name, but after talking with Grace, we came up with a solution of hyphenating our names. On Dad’s forty-first birthday, we were legally and officially adopted as Cullen’s. When I was ready, I could still give my wife my name of ‘Black’, but I’d also be a Cullen. I was proud to be a ‘Black’, born into a strong, noble family. But, I was accepted as a ‘Cullen’ and I’m proud of that, too.
