Feedback ...

I'm in need of feedback. This is the first I've written in nearly a year ... should I continue?

Chapter One

Bella

June 29th, 2019

I watched my sister and her new husband, Jasper, dance on the parquet floor. Alice looked like a cupcake of epic proportions with a dress that practically engulfed her with more sparkles than one of those sparkly vampires I’d ogled over when I was a tween. She was blissfully happy with her soulmate, beaming up at him giddily as they shared their first dance as husband and wife.

I should have been happy.

Don’t get me wrong, I was. My sister deserved nothing but all the happiness in the world, but I had an empty hole where my heart used to be.

The man who I thought was going to be my forever, my soulmate … he’d decided to play hide the sausage with his assistant.

In my bed.

On the brand-new fucking sheets that I’d bought.

There was a lot of body oil involved, and suffice it to say, the sheets were torched. Along with the mattress.

And the ex-forever.

Pffft, I wish.

I’d be in jail for murder if I’d torched Jacob after he’d fucked Nessie in our bed, staining the sheets with their disgusting body oil. But I think it would have been justifiable. My dad would have helped me hide the body. Jacob, despite being his best friend’s son, was dead to him since he’d broken his baby girl’s heart.

Hell, my dad, Chief Charlie Swan, threatened Jacob’s life when he had the gall to come back to the scene of the crime, begging for me to take him back when Nessie dumped him for Jacob’s boss’s boss. Charlie leveled his rifle at Jacob, aiming for his dick as Jacob sobbed like a bitch baby.

His tears were a hit on TikTok. My post went fucking viral, and Jacob became of laughingstock.

And you’re not bitter at all, Bella. Nope. Never …

“Here’s to love,” I slurred, holding up my champagne flute in the direction of my younger sister and her hubby. “Give him ten years and he’ll fuck you over, just like Jake fucked me over.”

“I think you’re cut off, Bells,” said Jasper’s older brother, Edward, as he took the flute from my hand.

“Party pooper,” I grumbled.

Edward was absolutely gorgeous, with chiseled features, a jaw that could cut glass, piercing green eyes that were emphasized by chic-looking glasses and riotous bronze hair. He and I worked at the same school in Seattle. I taught high school English to juniors and seniors and Edward was the resident science nerd, teaching AP Chemistry and AP Physics.

“Now, now, “ Edward snickered, sitting down next to me gracefully. “Don’t rain on our siblings’ parade. It’s not every day that they get to have their fairy tale happily ever after.”

“The fairy tale is a lie,” I said, arching a brow at my friend. “Yes, I agreed to be the maid of honor, but when I did so, I was blinded by fake love thanks to Jake, the snake. And then, he …”

“I know what he did, Bells,” Edward replied placatingly. “He’s an asshole and you deserve better than Jake. But don’t shut down your heart to what could be.”

“Don’t be getting all mushy, Cullen,” I scoffed, hiking up the purple strapless gown my sister forced her bridesmaids to wear. “You’re a scientist. You’re supposed to think with this.” I pushed my pointer finger into his forehead. “Not this.” I poked his chest, just above his heart. “I don’t trust that anymore.” I put my head down on the head table. “Ouch.”

“You okay?” he asked.

“I have more bobby pins and shit in my hair than hair,” I grumbled. I sat back, trying to reach for the champagne flute. “Edward!”

“Let’s get some coffee and some fresh air, Bells,” he said, taking my hand and gently pulling me to my feet. I stumbled out of my heels, sticking my tongue out at the implements of torture. “You’re so done.”

“I was done after Pastor Weber said, ‘I do,’” I huffed, following Edward out into the cool night air, overlooking the sound. It was early summer and chilly in the evening. I shivered, crossing my arms over my chest and staring sightlessly at the water. Tears welled in my eyes at what I’d lost six months ago when Jacob had betrayed me in the most ultimate way. “Why did he do it, Edward? Why did Jake throw me away?”

“I can’t give you a definitive answer, Bella,” he answered quietly, wrapping his arm around my shoulders. “I’m not Jake. But it’s his loss for losing one of the most amazing people I know.”

“I thought I was done with dating,” I sighed, leaning my head against his shoulder. “I put up a profile on Tinder … So. Many. Unsolicited. Dick. Pics.” I shuddered, wrinkling my nose. “Gross. Why do guys think that women want to see a picture of their junk?”

“Because, it’s what men want to see,” Edward replied. He led me to a bench and slid off his tuxedo jacket, draping it over my body. “Don’t go onto those awful sites.”

“How else am I supposed to get dates?” I asked. “At work, there are three eligible men, including you. While I think you’re hot, we’re friends. I don’t want to mess up our friendship.”

“I feel like a side a beef,” Edward deadpanned. “I can whip out my cock for an unsolicited dick experience.”

“I’m drunk, but not that drunk,” I snorted. “If it weren’t for you and Alice, I wouldn’t have gotten through the dark time after Jake … I really don’t want to lose that. You’re one of my best friends, Edward.”

“Just like you’re mine, Bells. Hell, you saved me from Tanya and Peter,” he grumbled.

“Tanya and her diseased snatch can stay up in Alaska,” I snarled. “And Peter? He was a two-faced lying liar who lies about everything. He was married and had two kids, all while professing his love to you?”

“Let’s just say a little bird shared all about our relationship to Peter’s wife,” Edward smirked, arching a brow over his frames.

“You didn’t?”

“Jasper, using his hacking for good, sent Peter’s wife incriminating pictures of all of Peter’s indiscretions. I was one of many,” he shrugged. “In a way, I’m with you. I’m over the whole dating scene. There’s no quality out there.” We sat in quiet, listening to the water gently lap against the shore. Music from my sister’s wedding floated around us, bathing us in sappy romantic love songs. “Can I make a suggestion?”

“What’s that?” I asked. “We get more alcohol?”

“No,” he replied flatly. “Just think about this … we’re both thirty.”

“No, you’re thirty. We celebrated your thirtieth birthday a couple of weeks ago, getting sloshed at the Mariner’s game. I’m still in my twenties,” I argued, batting my eyes at him.

“I’m older than you by four months, Isabella Marie,” he growled, poking my side. “So, you will be thirty in September …”

“Don’t make me pummel you with my heels,” I grumped.

“They’re under the head table, Bella. Focus on me,” he sighed. “We try dating, but if we don’t have anyone who gives us the ‘tingles’ …” Edward looked at me, giving me a shy, crooked grin. “We try it. We get married.”

New Story ~ Coming Soon

This has been a rough few weeks for me, to be honest. But, with what all that happened, I was bitten by the plot bunnies ...

Anyhow, here's my working idea for my new story, Stay With Me.

Edward Cullen Jr., he was floundering.

He lost his wife in a tragic accident. Not like there was love lost in their relationship. It was not a marriage of love and respect. More like a marriage of money, convenience and social status. Lauren Mallory was the daughter of a state senator and a socialite ... the perfect mate for the only son of Edward Cullen Sr., a federal court judge and his equally judgmental wife.

Edward was primed to follow in his father's footsteps when his wife was found dead, but now he had no further hopes in becoming a judge or anything else. He wanted to focus on the only good thing that came out of their marriage, their only son, Edward Cullen III ... affectionally known as Teddy. Teddy did not fit the mold laid out by his grandparents on both sides, nor his mother.

Teddy was born with Down Syndrome.

Bella Swan, she was flourishing.

She worked for several families as a nanny and full-time child care giver, focusing on children who had special needs. She was single, living with her best friends and happy with her life. When Alice Cullen, her oldest and dearest friend and cousin to Edward, came home in a tizzy. Her cousin was struggling and his parents would not help him, nor would they even acknowledge that he was lost ...

Alice begged Bella to meet with Edward, who was ten years her senior, to see if she could help him and help Teddy. It had gotten so bad that he'd gone to his godfather and his wife, Dr. Carlisle Cullen and Esme, for guidance since his own parents were absent, uncaring to his plight.

What happens when these two meet and a connection is made? Will it be enough for Bella to stay with Edward and Teddy or will it tear them both apart?

New Story ... A Holiday Gift for You

I started some free writing and I got the idea of a Christmas story. It's a little sad, a lot smutty and features our favorite characters ... Bella and Edward!

All I Want for Christmas is You ~ Sometimes ... you can find love in the most interesting places. B/E AU/AH

Phoenix, Arizona

“Damn it! Damn it! Damn it!” Edward snarled as he watched his plane backed away from its gate, panting heavily from his run. He’d sprinted from his arrival gate on the other side of the airport to try to catch his connecting flight to Chicago. His first flight had been delayed due to some mechanical error, but he’d put in a buffer to account for delays. He was certain he had enough time to get to his next flight by the time they took off.

Alas, no such luck. He just missed it.

By one fucking minute.

Damn it! God DAMN it!

New Story! Worth the Fight Update

WTF Ch. 1 on FFn

WTF Ch. 1 on AO3

WTF Ch. 1 on Stars

WTF Ch. 1 on Wattpad

Updates will happen on Mondays/Fridays, with teasers on Wednesdays/Saturdays. So, I will have a teaser posted on Wednesday ... but it will be once I get home from work, so after six in the evening CST.

What happens when you think you have it all, only to find out it was all a lie. Edward Masen, a prized professional fighter, thought he had everything he could ever want or need in his hometown of Chicago. That all changed after one brutal fight, resulting in several serious injuries and a long recovery. His agent and coach pushed him to the limit, ignoring his concerns and focusing on their futures, not Edward's.

Isabella Swan, owner, and amateur fighter for Bull Dog MMA Fighting Club, was perusing the finances for the club, discovering her boyfriend's and Bull Dog fighter, infidelity. Like Edward, she had it all and it was all a lie. After kicking her boyfriend to the curb, she vowed to herself that she'd never date a fighter.

That all changes when Edward walks into Bull Dog MMA Fighting Club, looking for new coaches and representation. He'd lost it all in Chicago, packing up his belongings to start fresh in Seattle. Bella is drawn to Edward, with his beauty, charisma, and talent. But, her vow ...

When everything explodes all around them, their pasts smacking them in the face, will Bella and Edward realize that it was all Worth the Fight?

Destination Date Update

Destination Date Ch. 1 on Wattpad

Edward Cullen and Bella Swan just started dating. In early March, they planned on going on a vacation together. Edward found a great deal to fly down to Brazil. Bella wasn't sure if she wanted to go with him since their relationship was so new.

Edward was quite persuasive.

Bella said yes.

They flew down to São Paulo to an all-inclusive couple’s resort, for six days and seven nights of tropical beauty and the promise of so much more.

Several days after they arrived, all international travel was cancelled due to a fast-moving, highly contagious pandemic.

What will happen with Edward and Bella while they are on their Destination Date? Will they be stronger upon their return to the states, or will their love survive?

“Ed, my main man, how are things going with the online dating thing?” asked Emmett. He was devouring his lunch, most of it dribbling onto his chin. “Any hotties?”

“Dude, I do not want to see your lunch as it’s digesting,” Edward snorted, tossing a napkin to his best friend and business partner. They owned several lucrative gyms, Twilight Fitness, in and around the Seattle area. Emmett was the body and Edward was the brains. Edward did have a ripped body, but nowhere near the caliber of Emmett, whose muscles had muscles. “How are you not six-hundred pounds?”

“I’ve got fucking great metabolism,” he said, tossing his garbage into the trash. “You done with that?” He pointed to Edward’s half-eaten sandwich.

“Have at it, Chunk,” Edward grumbled, rolling his eyes. “In regard to the online dating thing, I’ve met this really sweet girl.”

“Oh, give me details,” Emmett grinned.

New Story Alert! Destination Date

I wrote a story for a fandom compilation, helping out one of our own. One of the reasons I adore this fandom is the feeling of family that encompasses us. We rally around our fandom friends and it’s downright amazing. Anyhow, I wanted to start sharing this story that I began writing for that compilation. Like Blockbuster, this is a true work-in-progress. I’m only eight chapters in, but I wanted to start posting this.

The Perfect Storm Teaser

Thursday, May 27th, 2021
6:45am
Home of Isabella Whitlock, Assistant Principal of Elgin High School
Elgin, Oklahoma

“Alec Charles Whitlock and Riley James Whitlock, get your butts down here,” Bella yelled as she poured herself a cup of coffee in her travel mug and checked the weather forecast. “The Mom-Mobile will be leaving in five minutes. I’ve got to set up for the commencement ceremony that was rescheduled about a hundred times. Let’s go!”

The loud stomps upstairs gave Bella proof that her two teenaged sons were up and about. She checked her watch and packed her work bag with her files and work computer. Riley came downstairs, his shaggy brown hair hiding his handsome face. He looked so much like his father that it made her heart lurch – not in a good way - but she plastered a smile on her face. “Where’s your brother?” she asked, handing him a plate of eggs and bacon.

“He’s vlogging,” Riley said, rolling his eyes. He stuffed his face, spraying food everywhere. “Something about the video time capsule or whatever.”

“Chew, then talk, child of mine. Alec, let’s go,” Bella barked.

“I’m walking,” Alec grumbled, ambling downstairs. He held his ever-present camera in his hand.

“No, you’re not,” Bella argued, taking the camera away. “We’re already late and if you walk, you’ll be late to school. We’ve got to maintain …”

“Whatever, Mom,” Alec said, swiping the camera back. “Can we go?”

New Story ... The Perfect Storm

Originally, I’d come up with this story after I watched the movie, Into the Storm. It had been in my files for a few years and it was just sitting there. Then, I put a story up for auction to help Ashley Pandora. The woman who won my story asked for a #ScienceWard. She gave me a couple of options and this is what I came up with ...

I’m nearly done writing the story and she will receive the first copy and the first chance to read it. I’m hoping for her to get it by the end of the month. Then, in April, I’ll begin posting this story.

Falling for a Dark Soul Update

Falling for a Dark Soul is not LIVE on all platforms (except for FicPad since they now suck).

FFADS Chapter 1 on FFn

FFADS Chapter 1 on AO3

FFADS Chapter 1 on Stars

FFADS Chapter 1 on Wattpad

Isabella Swan moved away from the world she’s known, trying to move on from the loss of her parents and raising her baby sister, Katie. She’s always seen the best in the world, but she’s struggling in coping with all of the changes in her life. A new start was needed and she packed up, moving from the small town of Forks to Chicago to work as an advertising junior executive at Masen Advertising Corporation.
Edward Cullen, CEO of Masen Advertising Corporation, is a cold-hearted, uncaring, hateful asshole. An orphan and living in foster care until he turned fifteen, he was adopted by Carlisle and Esme Cullen. Edward struggled with forming relationships. All he wanted was a partner, a friend, a lover, a wife, a mother to his children. He lost his wife, Tanya, when she was found screwing his partner, Jacob Black, on his desk. She also shattered his heart, ending several pregnancies, even though Edward had pleaded to start a family.
What happens when Edward bumps into Bella in the hallways of Masen Advertising Corporation? Will she be the chink in his armor, shattering his carefully constructed walls? Or will he bring her into the darkness, shattering her optimistic view of the world? It’s uncertain, but she’s Falling for a Dark Soul.

“Are we there yet, Bella?” whined my four-year-old sister, Katie. “I want to play. I gotta go potty, too.”

“Ten minutes, Kit Kat,” I responded, following the directions provided by my navigation system. “Can you hold it?”

“Yeah,” she muttered. “Mommy would have stopped. I want Mommy.”

“Me, too, kiddo,” I said under my breath. I was grieving, lost at what to do with my sister and my life. I’d just finished my MBA, and was looking forward to making a new life for myself in Seattle, working for an advertising agency. But that changed with a phone call from the Chief of Police from Forks.

My mother, along with my stepfather, Phil, had died in a car crash. They were driving back from a date night and were hit by a log truck on the road back to the small town where I’d grown up, Forks. The truck driver had fallen asleep at the wheel, trying to get back to his family. In reality, he’d pushed himself too far and took away mine, except for my baby sister, Katherine Marie Dwyer, who had been with a babysitter while they were out. I’d lost my father, Charlie Swan, before I could even remember. He’d died in a domestic violence call when I was a baby. He was shot to death by the man while my father tried to protect the wife, who died, as well. .

“Bella,” Katie cried.

“We’re here,” I said, pulling up to the brownstone I’d purchased with the life insurance money from my mother’s death. I’d tried to stay in Forks to keep things normal for Katie, but living in that house was like living with one foot in the grave. I couldn’t stay there. I was floundering, personally and professionally. Working at Newton’s Sporting Goods brought back too many memories from when I worked there in high school, none of them pleasant. I was too qualified for my job. In addition to that, I was dodging Mike’s constant flirtations, despite the fact he was married to his high school sweetheart, Jessica Newton, née Stanley.

The man was a walking, talking sexual harassment suit.

If he touched my ass one more time …

I needed to start fresh. I needed to get away from the place where I’d lost both of my parents and my stepfather who’d loved me like his own daughter. My position at the advertising firm in Seattle had been filled, but the woman who’d hired me had passed my name along to a college friend, to another company in Chicago. I was offered a position at Masen Advertising Corporation as a junior advertising executive. It paid more than I was offered in Seattle, but I learned why when I went to look at real estate.

It was expensive to live in Chicago.

“Bella, there’s no green. I miss green,” Katie grumped. “It’s all cars and buildings. Can we go back to Forks? I want more green.”
