Christmas Eve dawned cloudy and snowy. Alice's theme of a White Christmas was becoming too much. Edward arranged for Bella to get some time in the spa the morning of the wedding. He walked down there with her to get a haircut since Alice had a snit fit that his hair was too long at the rehearsal the evening prior.

Dressing in his tuxedo and Bella in her gown, they walked down to the lobby. Jasper was down in the lobby with his family. He grinned happily, hugging Edward and Bella. "Can you believe that today's the day?"

"I'm happy for you, Jas," Edward beamed. "But, if you need a getaway driver, I'm your man."

"I think I'll be okay," Jasper laughed. "Do you need a ride to the church? We're using the shuttle."

"Thank you, but we're going to use our rental," Edward answered. He slid his arm around Bella's waist, kissing her temple and whispering in her ear, "For a quick getaway, if need be."

"After last night, we might need it," Bella laughed, snuggling closer to Edward. He quietly agreed, kissing her forehead and ignoring the twisting of his heart, remembering the previous evening.

Destination Date Update

March 30th, 2021

San Diego, California

Sitting in their van, Bella and Edward were working on their next YouTube video. It was a compilation of their time in San Diego, including some surfing, kayaking La Jolla, hitting up some of the best restaurants and spending time at the San Diego Zoo. With each video, their audience grew. They hit the mother lode when it came to the YouTube algorithm. Their channel hit 250,000 subscribers the day their first video for their van travels hit the internet. There were so many congratulations for their engagement and well-wishes for the beginning of their journey.

“I really like the freedom of traveling in this van. We’re working on a beach, watching the sunset,” Edward said, smiling at his fiancée.

“I was hesitant to take this leap,” Bella murmured honestly, pulling her legs up.

Edward looked at her, arching a brow. This was the first she’d mentioned it, but kind of understood why she would be. “How so?”

“Part of it was my fears,” she shrugged. “I was waiting for something to muck things up. Self-fulfilling prophecy or some shit.”

“And the other part?”

“I was waiting for you to throw me aside or lose you like everyone else in my life,” she sighed. “Don’t get me wrong, I’m glad I’m here with you. It’s everything I ever dreamed of and more. I have a partner who adores me. You’ve given me everything I ever wanted – a family.”

He put his computer to the side and pulled Bella into his lap. “I’d never throw you aside, Glitter. Never. You’re my soul mate. The yin to my yang,” he smirked. She snickered, trailing her fingers through the soft curls at the nape of his neck. “I will always be with you, on your side, Bella. You’re my best friend and so much more. I was content before I met you, but now? I’m eager to face the next day with you, love.”

“I love you, Edward. So much,” she whispered, kissing his lips. They lost themselves in their embrace for a few moments until Bella’s cell phone rang. It was Miss Alice’s ring tone. “Nooooooo!”

“You look forward to these phone calls, baby,” Edward snickered. “Tell Miss Alice that I say hi. I’m going to try and get some editing done. I also want to get our next episode scheduled on YouTube.”

“Okay,” she grinned, climbing off his lap, and swiping her phone. “Can you also make dinner? There’s enough for a stir fry in the fridge.”

“Will do,” he said, waving as she walked out to the beach with a blanket to take the call from Miss Alice.

A Ilha Do Amor Repost

And They Lived Happily Ever After AIDA Chapter 37 on FFn

“I can’t believe it,” I murmured, overlooking the sunrise. “The day is finally here. My wedding day.”

“The day before your wedding day,” Jasper quipped from his perch on the ladder as we wrapped twinkle lights around the altar. “You still have the rehearsal to get through. Not to mention the separation from your future wife.”

“Ugh, don’t remind me,” I grumbled. It was the morning of our rehearsal and I was too anxious to sleep. My tossing and turning was keeping Bella awake. We had spent the night making love and Bella was exhausted from our between-the-sheets Olympics. She kicked me out after an hour of my restless movements, telling me to make sure that the beach site was set up properly. I got dressed and listened to my future wife’s bidding since Alice was on a rampage. “My sister is honestly scaring me with her control freak tendencies and insistence at keeping us separate before our wedding night.”

“She’s scaring all of us,” Jasper sighed, his smile falling. “Alice needs help, Edward. Only you can convince her to get it. She won’t get the help she needs because you are going on your honeymoon for six weeks. She won’t leave the island. Alice has to go to Eleazar and Carmen to get over this thing she’s battling with seeing James again.”

“I’ll see if I can convince her,” I replied. “She must be battling some form of PTSD or something. Seeing James, reliving all of those moments of terror he imparted on her while they were dating, and watching my villa burn to the ground. I understand why she’s a mess. I do. But it’s so eerie to watch her fall apart."

“I miss her, Edward. I love Alice so much and it kills me that she won’t turn to me for help,” Jasper grumbled. “I want to crush her in my arms and make all of her pain go away.”

“She can’t love anybody else if she can’t love herself, Jasper,” I muttered, wrinkling my nose. That was a feeling I was all too familiar with. I lived in it for ten years. “Everything that has happened, it took her back to a place where she was small and weak.”

“You sound like you know,” Jasper replied, sitting down on one of the chairs set up on the beach.

“I do. I hated myself for the longest time, Jas, and see so much of my behaviors in Alice’s.” Jasper gave me a confused look. “I hated that I let Lauren walk all over me and break me. Hence, Edward, the man whore, was born. I covered my self-loathing and self-hatred by fucking anything with tits. It wasn’t until my world was sent into a tailspin when I ran into Bella that I realized that I was screwing everything up. With my actions, I was distancing myself from my family. With my overtly sexual behavior, I was objectifying women and doing what Lauren did to me. It was a lonely, bitter life and I didn’t want it anymore. I wanted something special and permanent. I wanted someone to love and be able to love in return. I wanted the happily ever after with the love of my life. When Bella was stuck in my villa during the storm last summer, my heart lurched and I wanted nothing more than to protect her, love her and prove to her that I wasn’t some male slut. That could only come from within me. Yes, Bella helped and her encouragement and love guided me, but most of it was all on me.”

“Do you think that Alice will ever get over this?” Jasper asked. His eyes were shimmering with hope, but there was trepidation written all over his face.

“She did before,” I answered. “With time and help, she will get over it again.”

He sighed harshly, thrusting his hands into his long, sun-bleached locks. “I just miss her. My bubbly Alice.” He closed his eyes, leaning back in the chair.

“Don’t give up on her, Jas. Not yet,” I murmured, squeezing his shoulder.

“I’m trying,” he whispered, his eyes fluttering closed. With another sigh, he got up. “I’m going to check on the activities planned for today. I want to make sure that Julio knows about the Gundersen’s needs.” He stalked away. Jasper’s shoulders were hunched and he looked dejected. I knew that Alice was pushing everyone away, but the person who wanted to provide her comfort the most was being treated the worst.

Turning to the work crew, I prattled off the instructions in Portuguese and handed them a photo of how the altar was supposed to look. They assured me that everything would be done to my specifications. With a wave, I darted toward Alice’s villa. Something had to give. Letting myself into her villa, I found my sister curled up on the couch and clutching a stuffed horse, a present from Jasper, sleeping fitfully. Sitting down on her cocktail table, I gently shook my sister. “Ali! Wake up,” I hissed.

She blinked at me sleepily, waving at me. “Go away, Eddurrrrd,” she slurred. Twisting her body to face the couch, she huffed and began groaning lowly.

“Alice, are you drunk?” I asked, shocked at her behavior.

“Maybe,” she giggled over her shoulder, then hiccupped. “Shoo. You’re ruining my buzz.”

I pursed my lips. This wasn’t my sister. This was me. A year ago. The reflection of my former self shocked me to the core and I refused to let my sister fall down the same path as me. Tearing the blanket from her body, I scooped my sibling into my arms and carried her toward her bathroom. She started pounding on my back, screaming like a yeti. Unceremoniously, I dumped her in the shower and turned the water on. “EDWARD! WHAT THE FUCK?!”

“You shower and sober up,” I growled. “When you’re done, I’m talking and you’re listening. This…whatever this is…needs to stop!” Alice glowered at me balefully.

I was reading some romance novel on the patio while Charlie played on blanket in the shade. Edward was working out with Emmett, rehabbing his injury, a month and a half after the shooting. It was the weekend before my uncle’s wedding. They were running along the shoreline of the lake, rebuilding my husband’s endurance. He had a gnarly scar due to the infection, but he was healing and almost back to his pre-injury self.
“Mama,” chirped my son. He stood up on wobbly legs, using the chaise lounge to move closer to me. “Up!”
I put my book down, scooping my son onto my lap. “You thirsty, sweet boy?”
“Yeah,” he nodded, idly playing with my hair that was braided over my shoulder. I picked up a sippy cup from a cooler underneath the side table. It was cold and he eagerly drank the apple juice. “Dada!” He pointed at Edward and Emmett as they sprinted along the sand. My husband was creaming Emmett. They were laughing as they made their way toward the house. “Dada!”
“Kick his butt, Edward,” I cheered. He smiled as he darted on to the patio and slid to a stop behind my chaise. “Woo! That’s my man.”
“Hell, Edward. Even gimpy, you’re faster than me,” Emmett panted as he gripped the railing of our deck. He sat down heavily, rubbing his chest. “Can’t breathe …”
“Here, Em, have some water,” Edward said, handing water to his younger brother. Emmett just scowled at Edward, still breathing unevenly. “Hey, don’t look at me in that tone of voice. It’s not my fault that you’re so slow. It’s why you were on defense on the high school football team and I was the wide receiver.”
“I’m not slow,” Emmett muttered under his breath, slamming his water and pouring it over his dark curls. “You’re just freakishly fast, Edward. Damn.” I cleared my throat, arching a brow at Emmett and I held out my hand. “Come on, Bella! I’m dying here.”
“You owe Charlie, your adorable and malleable nephew, $15,” I smirked.
Edward reached into his pocket and handed his brother a small card that I had laminated for all the potty mouthed members of our family. Emmett’s jaw dropped. “Bella’s serious about this swear jar. Charlie is a little parrot. He repeats everything.”
“I’ll have to pay you later. I didn’t exactly bring my wallet,” Emmett grumbled. He looked down at his phone and he got up quickly. “I’ve got to go. I’m meeting Lauren at Chicago Title.”
“Did you purchase a home?” I asked. “I know you mentioned it, but I never heard anything after that initial conversation.”
“We did. I found a gorgeous home in Mom and Dad’s neighborhood,” Emmett said. “It’s further in and right along the lake, similar to this place, but on a smaller scale. It’s perfect for the two of us … and when the time is right, more.”
“Are you thinking of proposing?” Edward questioned, holding Charlie between his legs and idly playing with his son.
Emmett wrinkled his nose. “I don’t know. I love Lauren. We’re a good match …”
“You’re gun-shy,” I finished for him. “After what Rosalie did to you, cheating on you and everything else. I don’t blame you.”
“We’ll talk more,” Emmett said. He nodded before darting to the front of the house.
“What do you think about Emmett’s decision about Lauren?” I asked, standing up and picking up Charlie. It was getting warm and in the distance, I heard the faint rumble of thunder. Edward picked up the cooler, following me into the house. I put Charlie into his highchair, making us lunch. “Edward?”
“I don’t blame him for being hesitant. Rosalie raked him over the coals,” Edward answered. “But, to not marry Lauren? They are so well suited to each other. They make each other laugh. She grounds him, loving him despite his position within our family.” He pursed his lips. “Whatever he decides, I’ll support him. He needs to come to whatever realization he wants to make about Lauren on his own.”
“If I had to guess, they’ll get completely hammered and then elope,” I snickered, putting a sandwich in front of Edward.
