Destination Date Update

Destination Date Ch. 14 on FFn

Bella couldn’t breathe. Tears were streaming down her face. She tore at her mask and fell down onto the sand, sobbing brokenly. This was why she didn’t open herself up. Another person had betrayed her. Edward had betrayed her by kissing that slut, Tia!

“I have to get home,” she stammered. “Maybe I can drive up to Seattle. It’s only about seven thousand miles.” Yeah, that won’t work. “I can’t stay here. Maybe Osvaldo can get me a separate space.” She closed her eyes as more tears leaked out. She tried to catch her breath, but she couldn’t. Her heart was completely broken.

Bella was destined to be alone.

She heard someone speaking angrily on the phone. Benjamin was snarling, his face red with fury. However, his face softened when he saw Bella. He hung up the phone and walked over to her. “Bella, right?”

“Yeah,” she nodded. “You sound like you’re having a day like mine.”

“If by that, you mean that I found my wife was fucking anything with a dick and infected me with an STD, then yes,” he sneered, plopping down on the sand next to her. “I just talked to Osvaldo to get a room away from that slet. I have to pack up my shit and move out before she realizes that I’m gone.”

“Do you know if he’s got any other rooms?” Bella asked, her voice hollow and empty.

“Why would you do that?” Benjamin asked. “You and your boyfriend are very much in love, no?”

“I just saw Edward kissing your slet,” Bella responded. “That means slut, right?”

He snorted humorlessly. “You are correct. But, I don’t think that Edward is interested. He’s always brushed her off. Hell, he was in the business center when I told her about having an STD. Most of our conversation was in Afrikaans, but I screamed at her in English because she was not listening to me.”

“Well, she wasted no time in jumping onto Edward,” she growled.

“Bella, I’m going to be honest with you. My wife is a slet. She always will be and as soon as I’m back home, I’m washing my hands of her. Your Edward, I can see that he loves you. Hell, a blind man could see that. Don’t let Tia’s actions color how you feel about Edward. My heart is broken, but I have some hope that I’ll find someone to love,” Ben explained. “Not any time soon, but when it’s right.”

“I don’t know if I can trust him, Ben,” Bella spluttered.

“Did you talk to him? Ask what happened?” Ben asked. Bella shook her head. “Before you jump to any conclusions, talk to him.”

“I’ve got good news for you,” Jason Jenks said as he walked into my office in the publishing house, wriggling a manila folder with a wide grin. “I got you a lot more money for contract.” He sat down, handing me the manila folder.

“You spoke with the new executive?” I asked, opening it up. I scanned the paperwork and gasped. “Holy crap! This is twice what was originally offered. How did you swing that?”

“I’m the shit,” Jason smirked. “I also think that the director finagled more money for you. At least, that’s what Paul said when I negotiated on your behalf.”

“Edward did?” I breathed.

“Yeah. I also found out why Laurent passed this along to a new executive. When I spoke to Paul, he said that Laurent was diagnosed with cancer and it doesn’t look good, hence Paul’s involvement in the project and Edward Cullen’s name coming into play,” Jason explained.

“Will Laurent be okay?” I asked.

“The new executive didn’t have that information, but Paul said he’s looking forward to work with you,” Jason said, giving me a sympathetic grin.

“I should send Laurent some flowers or something. Cancer sucks … it really fucking sucks,” I breathed, rubbing my chest. Hearing that about Laurent made my heart hurt and brought back unpleasant memories of my father along with his death, thanks to fucking cancer. “Maybe I’ll reach out to this new executive to get an update about Laurent …”

“I’m sorry about Laurent. I can do some digging, verifying his illness. Do you want me to do that?” he asked.

“No, thank you. I can do some digging,” I replied, shrugging a shoulder.

“Let me know if you want me to check into the new executive. But, I have to know about the contract. What’s your reply? Are you going to sign this?” Jason asked, pointing to contract.

I picked up a pen from my desk, signing on the dotted line and pushing it back to Jenks. “I am.” I got up, making a copy of the contract, scanning it to my computer. With a flourish, I opened a new email, attaching the contract and sent it to Summit Studios. “Thank you so much, Jason, for your help.”

“It was my pleasure, Bella,” Jason grinned. “Just make sure you get me tickets to the premier. I’ve got to support my clients.” He leaned against the door frame. “I’ll send you my bill for services rendered.”

“Got it, Jason,” I chuckled. “I’ll make sure to pay you once I get that invoice.”

“Now, I’ll let you get back to work. Are you going to start on the screenplay?” he asked.

“I need to finish up edits for my most recent novel,” I replied. “I’m about done.”

“Best of luck,” Jason said, pushing away from door frame and left me to my work.

Falling for a Dark Soul Teaser

My world lost its light and I was bathed in darkness once again.

Sam whimpered, putting his head on my lap. His gaze almost sympathetic and I slowly pet behind his ears. His face contorted as tears welled in my eyes. I felt so alone, so empty. I looked around my condo, surveying the destruction and I shook my head. I stiffly stood up. The door to my condo opened and I secretly hoped it would be Bella.

Unlikely, asshole. You broke up with her yesterday because you’re a fucking piece of work.

“Edward?” came the sweet voice of my mother. “Your downstairs neighbor called …” She looked around and gasped. “What happened? Were you robbed?”

I lifted my hand and let out a gruff, harsh laugh. “No,” I answered.

“Is it Bella?” she asked. Hearing Bella’s name made me choke and stumble. Esme walked over to me, guiding me to the couch. “Edward, you look … broken. Tell me, sweetheart. What happened?”

“I don’t know what to say,” I mumbled.

“Well, how about you tell me what the hell happened to the condo?” she pressed.

“I lost my temper,” I answered. “Mom, why am I so unlovable? Why do people just throw me away?”

“What are you talking about? Edward, you are one of the most lovable people I know,” she cooed, brushing my hair back. I flinched and moved away. I couldn’t handle being touched. Not now. Not ever. My mother looked confused, but she took a breath, continuing, “No one would throw you away.”

“But, she did,” I snarled.

“Who did?”

“Bella! She threw me away for a dalliance with James,” I snapped, thrusting my hands into my hair.

“I highly doubt that, Edward. She does not like him, obviously. She told me that she thought that James was a toad. Why would she …?” she pressed.

“Because, I’m not worth it. I’m not worth anything!” I shot up and began pacing since my condo could not handle anymore destruction. “The only thing I’m good for is to be used and abused. A punching bag, a living sex toy … I’m nothing, Mom.” I slid down the wall and screamed. “The one good thing in my life … she threw me away.”

My mother sat down next to me, pulling me into her arms. I struggled against her, not wanting her comfort. She wouldn’t stop holding me and I just gave up. I clung to my mother as I completely lost it. She didn’t say anything, but she did hold me. I’m not sure how long we sat on the floor, but she pulled away, wiping my tears. “Edward, in all the years you were my son, you’ve never let your walls down. You always kept everyone at arm’s length, even your father and me. You never allowed yourself to grieve, to cry, to feel that pain from your childhood.”

“I needed to protect myself,” I said, my throat raw. “I didn’t want to be hurt.”

“And now, Bella broke through those walls,” she said.

“But, she …”

“I doubt she threw you away, Edward. Did you give her a chance to explain?” she chided.

“She tried, but it sounded like excuses,” I snapped. “She’s no different that Tanya.”

“That’s not fair, Edward. If I had to guess you lashed out and you left before giving her an opportunity to tell you what had happened,” she sighed. “Edward, I love you more than words can describe. You are my child, even though I didn’t give birth to you. You are not even remotely close to being disposable.”

“Then, why did those assholes hurt me like they did?” I asked.

“Are you talking about Bella or those awful foster families?” she asked sympathetically.

“Both, I guess,” I muttered.

“Bella didn’t throw you away,” she admonished gently.

Falling for a Dark Soul Teaser

The woman sitting in front of me, with large brown doe eyes, thick mahogany hair, pale skin and red lips, was gaping at me like a fish. She was the same woman I’d briefly met the day before at the park with her daughter, or the girl who I believed to be her daughter. Seeing the little girl, something cracked in my armor and exposed my heart, but I had a business to run, regardless of what I felt the day before.

“I’m waiting, Miss Swan,” I snapped, narrowing my eyes at her. “I’ve read your hiring packet and I know that you’ve moved across the country after the death of your parents.”

Her eyes watered, but she jutted her chin out defiantly. “I graduated at the top of my class, like you,” she said. “I never half-ass anything. I’m a hard worker. I’m looking forward to …”

“You may have graduated at the top of your class, but your experience is sorely lacking, Miss Swan,” I interrupted.

“I was supposed to begin working after completing my MBA at a firm in Seattle. My parents’ death prevented me from taking that job, Mr. Cullen,” she hissed. “I’m sorry that my personal loss is coloring your opinion of me in such a poor light. I may not have a lot of experience, but I’m a quick study and I do not appreciate my work ethic or integrity to be questioned.”

I smirked at her fire. I liked her spark, but she was very close to being insubordinate. “Well, I look forward to see your work, Miss Swan,” I retorted snidely, glowering at her. “You came highly recommended from the company in Seattle, despite never working there.” Her face was pink and her eyes were welling with tears. I was obviously pushing her buttons. “I’ll see you tomorrow, Miss Swan. You may go.”

She shot up and strode out of my office. The door clicked shut and I leaned forward, thrusting my hands into my hair. Seeing those tears had wracked me to the core. I knew her history and yet, I questioned her integrity.

Ten minutes later, my door flew open and the bane of my existence stomped into my office. “You are such an asshole, Edward,” snapped Rosalie. “Bella is one of the best people we hired since you’ve taken over as CEO. You should know. You fucking hired her without a fucking interview. You’ve read her resume, saw her portfolio and examined her educational transcripts. On top of that, you knew that she had experienced a significant personal loss with her parents’ death. Yet, you kept pushing and pushing. Do you really not have a heart?”

“Edward, can I have a word with you?” Alice asked, sitting at her desk. It had been a couple of weeks since Bella began her physical therapy. She gestured to the chair next to her desk. “How are things going?”

Edward sat down, stretching his legs out. He took a few sips of water. “It’s very slow going. I looked at her scans and her body should be healing. The damage is minute.”

“I think a lot of it is mental,” Alice murmured. “Are you going to take her to the pool?”

“Not yet. The muscles in her legs are not strong enough. We’ve been working them. Her toes are working and she’s able to point and flex her foot.”

“That’s more than she’s done before,” Alice smiled.

“The first time she moved her foot, Bella started crying,” Edward breathed. “At first, she was quiet, but then she just lost it.” He blushed, looking at his boss. “I hate to see women crying. Hell, anyone really.”

“You hugged her, didn’t you?” Alice asked, an understanding look on her face.

“I held her, Alice. I picked her up and held her in my lap as she cried,” he sighed, scrubbing his face. “During our sessions, she told me about what her ex-husband did to her. Her parents are supportive and her kids are great, but she’s been weathering this storm on her own. I wanted to make it a little better.”

“She let her guard down around you?” Alice said.  Edward nodded, his face turning a brighter red. “Good, that’s what I was hoping for.”

“What?”

“I see a lot of Rosalie in Bella,” Alice smirked. “Tough as nails, dealing with their disabilities, for the most part, on their own. Emmett brought something out in Rosalie that made her even stronger. She felt supported for the first time.”

“What you’re suggesting goes against everything I learned in my classes, Alice,” Edward said, pursing his lips. “Bella is a beautiful woman, but she’s my patient. A relationship with her is unethical.”

“That’s almost exactly what Emmett said about Rosalie,” Alice laughed.

The Magic Within Teaser

“And Edward, he …” Alice cackled. “he woke up, completely naked. He was laying, spread eagle, on the chaise lounge overlooking the pool. He was snoring loudly and his pale skin was getting completely burnt by the sun. I tried to wake him up, but he was completely drunk and was …”

“When did he wake up?” Kate asked.

“About three hours later. He was completely burnt to a crisp,” Alice said. “He had no memory of falling asleep on the chaise, or even drinking an entire bottle of scotch.”

“Why would he drink so much?” I asked.

“He was just dumped by his girlfriend and wanted to drown his sorrows, but instead he danced, naked as the day he was born, smiting her name,” Alice snorted. “Little did he think about the ramifications. His cock … yeah, it was peeling from his sun burn for over a month. He was terrified that he would never be able to get hard again.”

“Who was this ex-girlfriend and why was he smiting her?” Charlotte asked, her feet crossed on the cocktail table.

“Her name, ironically enough, was Kate. It was his first real relationship and she dumped him just before prom because she wanted to go with the captain of the football team and not the captain of the debate team,” Alice explained, her nose wrinkled delicately. “So, instead of going to prom, he drank a bottle of our father’s very expensive scotch, dancing naked around the pool and smiting Kate.”

“I would never do that,” Kate scoffed. “His Kate was a bitch! Edward’s cute. I’d rather date the debate team captain than the football captain, especially if the debate team captain looked like Edward.”

“Agreed,” Charlotte nodded.

“And Edward could freeze the football captain now,” I added. “Besides, his muscles have muscles. My man is all sorts of sexy. I can’t wait until he comes home. I don’t sleep well when he’s not here.”

“Um, Bella, he’s staying with Emmett,” Rosalie said, her nose wrinkled.

“What?!” I shrieked. “No, he has to come back. I really don’t sleep well when he’s gone. I’m terrified that Jacob will …” I trailed off.

“Bella, you’re protected,” Charlotte soothed me. “Besides, you’re stronger, physically and emotionally, than when you first left Jacob. You can make him explode, or implode, whichever tickles your fancy, Bella.”

“It’s not the same,” I snapped, getting up and stomping away. I know I was acting like a brat. I went into the bedroom that I shared with my mate and allowed our combined scent to soothe me. There was a quiet knock at the door. I glowered at it, but the knocking continued. I got up, flinging open the door and seeing a contrite Carmen standing on my doorstep. “Was this your idea? I know how much you love your fucking traditions.”

“No, Lady Bella,” she said. I narrowed my eyes, stepping back and allowing her into my room. “Can we speak?”

“About? Not telling me about our history?” I snapped. “Shedding more light on traditions that I should already be aware of?”

“I want to apologize and tell you more about the glienne. It’s a hand-fasting ceremony, binding your souls together for eternity,” she whispered. Gracefully, she glided through my room and sat down on the human-sized chairs overlooking the backyard. “First, the apology. I … it was never my intention to keep information from you. I forget that you and Master Edward are not aware of the history of magic. You both seemed to take to your gifts easily.”

“But, we’re still learning,” I said.

Out of the Darkness Teaser

“Keep the change,” I said, handing the employee who delivered our food. I carried the tray into room, listening to Bella’s mind. I didn’t like how she was perceiving herself. She’d rode me, using my cock to come. It was beautiful and while we were kissing, touching, moving, she was fine. However, now? She was berating herself, calling herself a whore.

She was anything but that.

Placing the tray on the table, I knocked on the bathroom door. “Bella?” I asked, leaning against the door jamb. I heard quiet sniffles and the rustle of her shirt. “Pretty Bella, please, can I come in?”

“How can you stand me?” she asked, her voice so broken. “I’m disgusting. A whore. I used you.”

“God damn it,” I snarled under my breath. “Bella, please, open the door? I want to hold you.” Her sniffles morphed into louder crying. Shaking my head, I used my powers to unlock the door and seeing Bella curled up on the floor in front of the bath tub. I sat down in front of her, but kept my distance. Her mind was a jumble, but she made it mentally clear that she did not want to be touched.

“Why are you comforting me?” she whispered, her eyes wide and brimming with tears. “I’m …”

“Don’t finish that statement, Bella,” I said warningly. “Look at me, please?”

“So, I can see how you think of me?” she asked. She was distraught and not thinking clearly. I pushed my mind open, showing her how much enjoyed what we had done. How proud I was that she was mine. I loved feeling her in my arms, losing control and feeling pleasure, not pain or shame from what we’d done. She blinked up at me, her thoughts still wary and her eyes filled with trepidation. “Why can’t I get over this?”

“Bella, you were exposed to horrific abuse from an early age. Your view of sex is skewed and rightfully so. Not all intimate physical contact is bad. When it’s with someone you love, it’s so beautiful,” I murmured. “I’m sorry if I pushed you.”

“You didn’t. This is all me,” she said, waving to her head and scowling. “I’m such a mess.”

“Do. Not. Put. Yourself. Down,” I snapped. Bella’s eyes widened and I took a breath. “Bella, my pretty Bella, I wish I could help you, take all of the ugliness away. Working with Olivia, you’re doing well, but it’s going to take time. But, do not put yourself down. You are far from a mess. Jasper was a mess. You, my love, are not. You’re working on getting better.” Arching a brow at her, I made a face. “Now, can I hold you? Comfort you?”

“You don’t think I’m a whore?” she whispered.

“The farthest thing from my mind, Bella,” I whispered back. “In fact, seeing you come was the most beautiful thing I’ve seen in my life and you know I’ve been around a long fucking time.” She giggled, hiding her face behind her hands. I gently lifted her into my lap, holding her close to me. She slid her arms around my neck and slowly, her body melted against me. The darkness in her mind was lingering, but moving to the recesses of her subconscious. “Are you okay?”

“I’m getting there,” she said. “Thank you for …” for dealing with my crazy, she finished mentally, ducking into my shoulder.

“The whole don’t put yourself down thing? That includes mentally, woman,” I chided, holding her closer and nuzzling her neck.
