Blockbuster Update
Blockbuster Ch. 8 on fanfiction.online
“I’ve got good news for you,” Jason Jenks said as he walked into my office in the publishing house, wriggling a manila folder with a wide grin. “I got you a lot more money for contract.” He sat down, handing me the manila folder.
“You spoke with the new executive?” I asked, opening it up. I scanned the paperwork and gasped. “Holy crap! This is twice what was originally offered. How did you swing that?”
“I’m the shit,” Jason smirked. “I also think that the director finagled more money for you. At least, that’s what Paul said when I negotiated on your behalf.”
“Edward did?” I breathed.
“Yeah. I also found out why Laurent passed this along to a new executive. When I spoke to Paul, he said that Laurent was diagnosed with cancer and it doesn’t look good, hence Paul’s involvement in the project and Edward Cullen’s name coming into play,” Jason explained.
“Will Laurent be okay?” I asked.
“The new executive didn’t have that information, but Paul said he’s looking forward to work with you,” Jason said, giving me a sympathetic grin.
“I should send Laurent some flowers or something. Cancer sucks … it really fucking sucks,” I breathed, rubbing my chest. Hearing that about Laurent made my heart hurt and brought back unpleasant memories of my father along with his death, thanks to fucking cancer. “Maybe I’ll reach out to this new executive to get an update about Laurent …”
“I’m sorry about Laurent. I can do some digging, verifying his illness. Do you want me to do that?” he asked.
“No, thank you. I can do some digging,” I replied, shrugging a shoulder.
“Let me know if you want me to check into the new executive. But, I have to know about the contract. What’s your reply? Are you going to sign this?” Jason asked, pointing to contract.
I picked up a pen from my desk, signing on the dotted line and pushing it back to Jenks. “I am.” I got up, making a copy of the contract, scanning it to my computer. With a flourish, I opened a new email, attaching the contract and sent it to Summit Studios. “Thank you so much, Jason, for your help.”
“It was my pleasure, Bella,” Jason grinned. “Just make sure you get me tickets to the premier. I’ve got to support my clients.” He leaned against the door frame. “I’ll send you my bill for services rendered.”
“Got it, Jason,” I chuckled. “I’ll make sure to pay you once I get that invoice.”
“Now, I’ll let you get back to work. Are you going to start on the screenplay?” he asked.
“I need to finish up edits for my most recent novel,” I replied. “I’m about done.”
“Best of luck,” Jason said, pushing away from door frame and left me to my work.

Falling for a Dark Soul Teaser
My world lost its light and I was bathed in darkness once again.
Sam whimpered, putting his head on my lap. His gaze almost sympathetic and I slowly pet behind his ears. His face contorted as tears welled in my eyes. I felt so alone, so empty. I looked around my condo, surveying the destruction and I shook my head. I stiffly stood up. The door to my condo opened and I secretly hoped it would be Bella.
Unlikely, asshole. You broke up with her yesterday because you’re a fucking piece of work.
“Edward?” came the sweet voice of my mother. “Your downstairs neighbor called …” She looked around and gasped. “What happened? Were you robbed?”
I lifted my hand and let out a gruff, harsh laugh. “No,” I answered.
“Is it Bella?” she asked. Hearing Bella’s name made me choke and stumble. Esme walked over to me, guiding me to the couch. “Edward, you look … broken. Tell me, sweetheart. What happened?”
“I don’t know what to say,” I mumbled.
“Well, how about you tell me what the hell happened to the condo?” she pressed.
“I lost my temper,” I answered. “Mom, why am I so unlovable? Why do people just throw me away?”
“What are you talking about? Edward, you are one of the most lovable people I know,” she cooed, brushing my hair back. I flinched and moved away. I couldn’t handle being touched. Not now. Not ever. My mother looked confused, but she took a breath, continuing, “No one would throw you away.”
“But, she did,” I snarled.
“Who did?”
“Bella! She threw me away for a dalliance with James,” I snapped, thrusting my hands into my hair.
“I highly doubt that, Edward. She does not like him, obviously. She told me that she thought that James was a toad. Why would she …?” she pressed.
“Because, I’m not worth it. I’m not worth anything!” I shot up and began pacing since my condo could not handle anymore destruction. “The only thing I’m good for is to be used and abused. A punching bag, a living sex toy … I’m nothing, Mom.” I slid down the wall and screamed. “The one good thing in my life … she threw me away.”
My mother sat down next to me, pulling me into her arms. I struggled against her, not wanting her comfort. She wouldn’t stop holding me and I just gave up. I clung to my mother as I completely lost it. She didn’t say anything, but she did hold me. I’m not sure how long we sat on the floor, but she pulled away, wiping my tears. “Edward, in all the years you were my son, you’ve never let your walls down. You always kept everyone at arm’s length, even your father and me. You never allowed yourself to grieve, to cry, to feel that pain from your childhood.”
“I needed to protect myself,” I said, my throat raw. “I didn’t want to be hurt.”
“And now, Bella broke through those walls,” she said.
“But, she …”
“I doubt she threw you away, Edward. Did you give her a chance to explain?” she chided.
“She tried, but it sounded like excuses,” I snapped. “She’s no different that Tanya.”
“That’s not fair, Edward. If I had to guess you lashed out and you left before giving her an opportunity to tell you what had happened,” she sighed. “Edward, I love you more than words can describe. You are my child, even though I didn’t give birth to you. You are not even remotely close to being disposable.”
“Then, why did those assholes hurt me like they did?” I asked.
“Are you talking about Bella or those awful foster families?” she asked sympathetically.
“Both, I guess,” I muttered.
“Bella didn’t throw you away,” she admonished gently.

Out of the Darkness Teaser
She was anything but that.
Placing the tray on the table, I knocked on the bathroom door. “Bella?” I asked, leaning against the door jamb. I heard quiet sniffles and the rustle of her shirt. “Pretty Bella, please, can I come in?”
“How can you stand me?” she asked, her voice so broken. “I’m disgusting. A whore. I used you.”
“God damn it,” I snarled under my breath. “Bella, please, open the door? I want to hold you.” Her sniffles morphed into louder crying. Shaking my head, I used my powers to unlock the door and seeing Bella curled up on the floor in front of the bath tub. I sat down in front of her, but kept my distance. Her mind was a jumble, but she made it mentally clear that she did not want to be touched.
“Why are you comforting me?” she whispered, her eyes wide and brimming with tears. “I’m …”
“Don’t finish that statement, Bella,” I said warningly. “Look at me, please?”
“So, I can see how you think of me?” she asked. She was distraught and not thinking clearly. I pushed my mind open, showing her how much enjoyed what we had done. How proud I was that she was mine. I loved feeling her in my arms, losing control and feeling pleasure, not pain or shame from what we’d done. She blinked up at me, her thoughts still wary and her eyes filled with trepidation. “Why can’t I get over this?”
“Bella, you were exposed to horrific abuse from an early age. Your view of sex is skewed and rightfully so. Not all intimate physical contact is bad. When it’s with someone you love, it’s so beautiful,” I murmured. “I’m sorry if I pushed you.”
“You didn’t. This is all me,” she said, waving to her head and scowling. “I’m such a mess.”
“Do. Not. Put. Yourself. Down,” I snapped. Bella’s eyes widened and I took a breath. “Bella, my pretty Bella, I wish I could help you, take all of the ugliness away. Working with Olivia, you’re doing well, but it’s going to take time. But, do not put yourself down. You are far from a mess. Jasper was a mess. You, my love, are not. You’re working on getting better.” Arching a brow at her, I made a face. “Now, can I hold you? Comfort you?”
“You don’t think I’m a whore?” she whispered.
“The farthest thing from my mind, Bella,” I whispered back. “In fact, seeing you come was the most beautiful thing I’ve seen in my life and you know I’ve been around a long fucking time.” She giggled, hiding her face behind her hands. I gently lifted her into my lap, holding her close to me. She slid her arms around my neck and slowly, her body melted against me. The darkness in her mind was lingering, but moving to the recesses of her subconscious. “Are you okay?”
“I’m getting there,” she said. “Thank you for …” for dealing with my crazy, she finished mentally, ducking into my shoulder.
“The whole don’t put yourself down thing? That includes mentally, woman,” I chided, holding her closer and nuzzling her neck.
