Blockbuster Teaser

 Edward

With one more kiss, I helped her off the counter and we ate breakfast. Then, we tackled the turkey. Well, I did the heavy lifting while Bella dressed the turkey. It took the two of us an hour and a half to dress the turkey before putting it into the oven. “I’m going to shower,” Bella said. “I smell like butter and sage and raw poultry. Not a good combination.”

“When you’re done, I’ll do the same. I’m going to call my parents and wish them a Happy Thanksgiving,” I said.

Bella kissed me and walked toward the stairs. She stopped, looking back at me. “I love you, Edward. And, I know that you love me and that you’d never hurt me. Not like how Jacob did. I may not be ready for everything, but I want to try. Rose said that making love with someone who loves you can be magic.” She wiped her cheeks and smiled at me. “I want magic.”

Before I could respond, she turned on her heel and walked up the stairs.

Magic?

I could work with that.

Bella

I said that I loved Edward. In my heart, I knew it was the right thing. He’d given me the safety, protection, and support that I needed, that I desired. He was patient and kind. He was smart and ambitious. He was funny and silly, reminding me to have fun, especially while we were decorating my new home.

Let me tell you about the paint fight we had and the laughter we shared as our skin was a lovely shade of red, specifically ‘Heartthrob’ by Sherwin Williams, from when we painted my office. He got me on my shirt and arm while I rollered his face. I was slightly scared that he’d go off on me, but after laughing when he saw a glimpse of himself in a mirror, he owned that red paint.

What mattered the most was that he was a friend, listening to me when I raged, at Jacob, at Billy or at my history. He was my boyfriend, making me feel like a woman and not like a smattering of broken, shattered pieces. He loved to kiss and cuddle me, reminding me that I was worthy of that, of affection. He was a father-figure to my son, loving him unconditionally. It was his unconditional love for my son that solidified what I felt for him.

He accepted my son.

He accepted me, bruises, and all. He loved me, unconditionally. He may not have said it before now, but his actions showed it.

Every day.

I loved Edward. He loved me.

I was worthy of his love and giving my love in return.

A week after that night, Edward met up with Jacob at a local sports bar. Bella was out, spending time with her best friend, Alice, and enjoying some girly pampering.

“I never thought you’d call me,” Jacob said, pushing a bottle of IPA to Edward. “You are notorious for being possessive of your submissives.”

“I am, but with Bella, it’s more,” Edward explained. “Thanks for the beer.”

“You want to give her everything,” Jacob chuckled. “She has that effect on men.” Edward blushed, pulling at the label on the beer bottle. “Holy fuck. You love her.”

I was clicking through shopping sites on my computer. I was trying to find the perfect Valentine’s Day present for Bella, along with something small for Katie. We weren’t celebrating since it was the anniversary of Bella and Katie’s parents’ death. They would undoubtedly be sad, but I did want to get them something to acknowledge my feelings for them. Frustrated, I glowered at my computer. I couldn’t find something that said that I loved them, but not being over-the-top. My phone rang on my desk, further adding to my frustration. Pressing the speaker phone, I answered. “Yes?”

“Mr. Cullen, your father, Dr. Cullen, is here,” said Shelly.

“Send him in, Shelly,” I replied, my brows shooting up to my hairline.

It was rare that my dad came to my office. The last time he came by was shortly after the Tanya debacle. We had words.

Loud words that resulted in him leaving in a huff and us not speaking for nearly six months.

“Here you go, Dr. Cullen,” Shelly murmured, holding open the door to my office.

“Thank you, Shelly,” Dad grinned as he walked into my office. He was wearing a blue suit and holding his overcoat over his arm. “I didn’t mean to surprise you, but I was in the neighborhood. I had a meeting at a nearby hotel with some of the other hospital leaders. We’re done early. Do you have time to go to lunch?”

I checked my calendar. I didn’t have any meetings. “That sounds nice,” I replied.

“Would Bella like to join us?” Dad asked, a slow smile spreading over his face.

“She’s working remotely today,” I frowned. “This weekend will be rough for them and so Bella took a half day. She worked this morning and this afternoon, Bella and Katie are going to see their grief counselor at a satellite office in Glenview.” My father arched a brow, asking a question in his eyes. “It’s the anniversary of their parents’ death.” I put on my coat, swiping my wallet and cell phone.

“Oh, poor thing,” Dad replied. “Maybe, they would like to come over this weekend? I know your mother would love to spoil those girls.”

“I asked Bella what she wanted and she just wanted to stay home with me and Katie,” I answered. “I know it won’t be easy for them, but I want to be there for them. We’ve been through happy times … I’m not running away from the tears.”

We stopped briefly at Shelly’s desk and I told her that I was going out to lunch. With a request for her to send any calls to my cell phone, we left and walked to a nearby bistro. We ordered our meals. “I didn’t realize that Bella and Katie’s parents died so recently,” Dad murmured. “I knew that they were gone, but I thought it happened some time ago. A couple of years.”

“It’ll be a year on Valentine’s Day,” I said, sipping my soda. I sat back, idly playing with my napkin. I was slightly upset that I couldn’t really celebrate the first Valentine’s Day with the woman I loved in any sort of traditional way. It seemed selfish, but not. “Am I dick?”

“I’m not following,” Dad snorted, smiling at me.

“Sorry, I had a train of thought in my mind,” I snickered. “I was thinking that I’m a bit miffed that I can’t celebrate Valentine’s Day with Bella because of what happened. I respect that it’s a sad day, but I still want to give her something to show her and Katie that I care.”

“You more than care, Edward,” Dad chided gently. He gave me a gentle smile. “Bella and Katie have brought the light back to you, son. You love them and I understand your desire to cherish that.” He reached across the table, stopping my anxious twisting of the napkin. “You’re not a dick. The woman you love is going through something on a day where you should acknowledge your relationship. You want to take that pain away and celebrate your love. I think you being there for them is exactly what they need.” I sighed, not happy with his response. “However, something small might make them not feel so lost this weekend.”

“Will you help me?” I asked. “I’ll admit, I’m a little out of my depth, especially when it comes to kids.”

“Edward, you’re amazing with Katie. She thinks you hung the moon,” Dad breathed. “She adores you. You’re her hero.”

“Both my girls are my heroes,” I whispered. I closed my eyes, grinning wistfully. I loved them so much. Each day, it became easier and easier for me to say those words to them.

“You can tell them how you feel. You can say that you love Katie and Bella,” Dad said simply. I looked at him, afraid that he’d be pissed that I could say that I loved Bella and Katie, but unable to say the words to him or my mother. There was no judgment in his eyes, just happiness. “Edward, I can see those cogs turning. You’re terrified that I’m pissed at you for loving Bella and Katie. Am I right?”

“Well, yeah,” I answered honestly. “You’ve been my parents for over twenty-years and I …” I shook my head, twisting the napkin again. My father took my hand and squeezed it gently. Blowing out a breath, I continued, “I’ve known Bella for less than a year and I can talk to her, tell her how I feel. Why can’t I say that to you and Mom?”

A Modern Day Fairy Tale Teaser

I was working out, running in the fitness center of my building. Jake was doing some strength training. I was trying not to think about the beautiful woman who had captured my heart, my soul. All I wanted to do was to call her, steal her away and solve all her problems. I’d discussed one problem with Charlie in regard to be the investor for the bakery. I’d already put wheels into motion when I contacted my financial advisor in Gevalia, transferring money from my private funds for the renovations.

However, when my father discovered the movement of funds and it made for an interesting call at like three this morning.

“What are you doing, Masen?” he asked, his tone wry when he woke me out of restless sleep.

“I don’t know what you’re talking about, Father,” I said, scrubbing my face.

“My financial advisor said that you were doing some shifting around in your accounts,” he chuckled. “What’s going on?”

“Don’t get upset, but I’ve met someone,” I replied, a crooked smile spreading over my face.

“Are you paying a hooker?” Dad hissed. “Edward Anthony Masen Cullen, don’t make me come over to the states to tan your hide!”

“What?! Fuck! No! Dad, are you kidding me?” I growled. “This girl, Isabella, is the farthest thing from a hooker imaginable. She’s a baker and sole blood winner for her family. Her father is sick with Parkinson’s disease and they’ve accrued a large amount of debt due to his diagnosis. I’ve already spoken with her father. I’m investing in their bakery.”

“Giving her money?” he asked. “Masen … I don’t like this.”

“I’m investing. Her father was adamant that it was a loan,” I argued, sitting up and leaning forward on my knees. “I know you think I’m being foolish.”

“Masen, you are never capable of being foolish,” Dad sighed. “I’m just worried that you’re going to be hurt or …”

“Or, I’ll become tabloid fodder, like Emmett,” I grumbled. “Dad, everything about this girl … she’s smart, funny, selfless and beautiful. Did you see the picture in the newspaper?”

“I did and I hid it from your mother – she’s on a tear about Emmett’s choices, anxious to lash out at you. You dancing with some unnamed beauty? She’d come kick your ass. Though, even though it didn’t show her face, but she seems like a perfect match for you,” Dad breathed. “Is she Gevalian?”

“She is. Not a hundred percent, but she’s a majority,” I breathed. “And she’s never been married.”

“You love her,” Dad said, his smile evident.

“So much it hurts,” I answered, picturing Bella in my arms. I looked to where she lay in my bed two nights ago. I remembered her warm body curled against me, how relaxed she was in my arms. “Dad, you have to trust me. I’m not going into this blind. I want to do this. I need to do this.”

“Who am I to deny you, son?” he chuckled. “I’d like to know more about Isabella.”

“Understandable, but not now. It’s three in the morning and I’d like to go back to sleep,” I replied.

“I’d forgotten about the time change. It’s nearly one in the afternoon here,” Dad said. “I love you, son.”

“Before we hang up, how’s Emmett?” I asked.

La Donna e Il Dottore Teaser

Bella watched over Edward as Jasper stitched up his wounds. “Bella, he’s going to need surgery for his arm,” Jasper murmured. “I think his bicep is completely torn from Embry’s blade.”

“I’ll take care of it,” Bella hissed, glaring at Jasper.

“My brother, Peter, is a doc,” Jasper said. “He’s the one who showed me how to suture.”

“And you’re just telling me this now?” Bella sneered. “I wouldn’t have had to involve him!” She brushed Edward’s hair back, frowning deeply. He was terrified of her. He’d seen her kill. Granted, the man she’d killed was the one who sliced up her face and injured him. His death was justified. But, he was still terrified of what Bella did.

“Bella, my brother is a war hero, a captain in the army. He can help out in a pinch, like with this injury, but he’s not cut out for our life,” Jasper said, wrapping Edward’s neck with gauze. “I’ll call him. I believe he’s got some leave coming up.” Bella nodded. “He’ll be out for a few more hours. I’m going to call Rosalie to arrange for some ‘time off’ for Doc Cullen.”

“Make it as legit as possible, Jasper,” Bella whispered. He nodded and left the bedroom where Edward was resting. His arm was wrapped, but still bleeding. She picked up his other hand, threading fingers with his and stared at his face. Even in rest, he was in agony. Getting up, she walked to the window and overlooked the backyard. It was nearly dawn, with rain coming down gently in the lavender light.

“You should probably change, Bella,” said Charlie. She turned, seeing her father. He was gripping a cane, his face drawn and covered in sweat.

“You should probably be in bed, Dad,” Bella countered. She helped him to a chair and he sat down heavily. “Do you need a pain killer?”

“Nah. I’m fine. I just moved too far, too fast, but I wanted check on Doc Cullen,” Charlie replied jutting his chin at the injured man in the bed. “He took excellent care of me. I hope you’re doing the same for him.”

“He needs surgery for his arm,” Bella muttered. “Something about his bicep. Jasper is going to bring in his brother, who’s a military man.”

“He’ll need surgery sooner rather than later if he wants to have full use of his arm,” Charlie said. “Bells, I see how you look at him. You care about him.”

“Well, you see how much my care helped him,” Bella sneered, her hands clenched into tight, angry fists. “He was attacked at his job by the monster who slaughtered my face.”

“He’s one less monster to worry about. I’m assuming you ended him,” Charlie nodded. “And that’s why you’re covered in blood.”

“Not all of it was Embry’s,” Bella snapped. “Some of it was …” Her voice caught, and she blinked back at Edward. “We need to help Edward get his life back. He shouldn’t be involved with us. I fucked up, Dad. I shouldn’t have called him. I had a moment of weakness. I let my emotions … my love for you … I put his life at risk.”

“If you think that love is a weakness, you’re wrong, little one,” Charlie growled, using her childhood nickname. “Love is a source of strength.”

“I disagree,” Bella argued. She looked at Edward and shook her head. “I’ll see to his injuries and arrange for a handsome payment. Then, I’m walking away from his life.”
