Happy Anniversary

Ten years ago, I embarked on the journey to start writing fanfiction. I was obsessed with The Twilight Saga. I'd reread them more times than I could count. I was obsessed with the romance between Edward and Bella, wishing for something like that for myself. At that point in time, I was in a struggling marriage and trying to cope with less than ideal working situations. 

I'd read fanfiction beginning that summer as I was recovering from ankle surgery. I was drawn into the world of Stephenie Meyer, but twisted and turned into something new and exciting. I loved reading about human Edward, vampire Bella, what happened during the time in between Eclipse and Breaking Dawn, and none of that fade-to-black shit. 

I'm talking about juicy, raunchy citrus. 

In December of 2010, I decided to dip my toe into the fanfiction world with my first-ever published story, La Cantante. I'd taken aspects of my life and put pen to paper. Or rather, fingers to computer keyboard. 

The rest is ... as they say ... history. 

Ten years later, I've written forty-eight stories, either writing on my own or collaborating with other authors (much love to Emotion Masen and Clo Rodeffer) all featuring our favorite characters, Edward Cullen and Bella Swan. Some were vamp-based. I've also tossed in witches, angels, fae, werewolves and my favorite, all-human. 

With that being said, La Cantante holds a special place in my heart. It's where I got started. Is it a perfectly written story? Hell, no! Lots of drama and too much citrus, but it's where I got my start and I'm proud of it. 

Fanfiction and the Twilight fandom has gotten me through so much in the past ten years. It helped me get over my divorce from my narcissistic ex-husband. With your support, I was able to grieve the loss of my mother from lung cancer. I made some of my closest friends, too. I'm so blessed to have you in all in my life. The love I have for my fandom family is immeasurable!

Day #8: A fic about drugs or alcohol

Since my dad is a functional alcoholic, I tend to steer clear of drug/alcohol stories. However, I did write a story with a recovering drug user Edward and Bella. Edward Cullen: A Work in Progress

Edward Cullen is a jerk. He's a moody musician and artist who is wary about life and is recovering from a nasty drug overdose. Emmett, his best friend, offers him an opportunity to redeem himself and work with his best tattoo artist in his shop.EXB,AH - Mature Audiences, only. Strong themes with references to drugs and sexual assault.

There were also drug elements in the La Cantante Sequel, La Musica Del Cuore ... Emmett developed a drug habit.

They met at Emerson University, fell in love and began their journey. Four years after the release of their first single, Edward and Bella Cullen are still going strong and happy with their lives. Ghosts from their past rear their ugly heads and will it be too much for this couple? Only time will tell, but one thing is steadfast ...

What you see isn't always what you get. By all appearances, Masen lives the life of sex, drugs, and rock-n-roll. He's living the dream that has turned into a nightmare because his life - and his reputation - is not his own. Day #9: A fic that reminds you of your first love

When I wrote this one, I remembered my time in college. I fell in love for the first time, the ONLY time, really ... La Cantante.

This one is so sweet. I’ve read the book it’s be based on and seen the movie. To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before by Nolebucgrl.

Based on the Netflix movie of the same name. Bella Swan's quiet life gets turned upside down when love letters to her crushes end up in the wrong hands.

Day #10: A fic with a number in it

I FLOVE this story ... QuarterbackWard. Yes, girl, yes!! First and Ten by Nolebucgrl.

Bella Swan is an aspiring sports writer and her first big assignment is to interview the league's biggest, not to mention hottest, quarterback. Will Edward Cullen school her in the rules of the game or will she teach him a thing or two? Rated M.

Bella thinks she finally has it all together after a life altering accident, but when she meets Edward, a once successful artist who has lost his inspiration, everything she thought she knew changes. All Human. Rated M for a very good reason.

Day #11: A fic that was published on your birthday

I’ve never read either one of these stories, but I will add them both to my TBR. The first one is Filthy Pirate by 2Brown-Eyes.

"Isabella, ye have grown since I last saw ye." He leered at my breasts. "Filthy pirate," I muttered, placing his tumbler of rum in front of him whilst trying to make a hasty retreat. When The Golden Eye arrived amidst a turbulent storm, a filthy pirate laid claim to his greatest treasure. Expansion on the one-shot for Age of Edward Contest.

The second one is ADADancer, a one-shot, Will You Be My Baby Mama?

"Hi, I'm Edward Cullen, and I want a baby. So, will you be my baby momma?"

I have two. One was written by one of my favorite authors, someone who supported me when I started writing fic. Higher by SexyLexiCullen. It brings back memories of when I was in high school.
