Ten years ago, I embarked on the journey to start writing fanfiction. I was obsessed with The Twilight Saga. I'd reread them more times than I could count. I was obsessed with the romance between Edward and Bella, wishing for something like that for myself. At that point in time, I was in a struggling marriage and trying to cope with less than ideal working situations.
I'd read fanfiction beginning that summer as I was recovering from ankle surgery. I was drawn into the world of Stephenie Meyer, but twisted and turned into something new and exciting. I loved reading about human Edward, vampire Bella, what happened during the time in between Eclipse and Breaking Dawn, and none of that fade-to-black shit.
I'm talking about juicy, raunchy citrus.
In December of 2010, I decided to dip my toe into the fanfiction world with my first-ever published story, La Cantante. I'd taken aspects of my life and put pen to paper. Or rather, fingers to computer keyboard.
The rest is ... as they say ... history.
Ten years later, I've written forty-eight stories, either writing on my own or collaborating with other authors (much love to Emotion Masen and Clo Rodeffer) all featuring our favorite characters, Edward Cullen and Bella Swan. Some were vamp-based. I've also tossed in witches, angels, fae, werewolves and my favorite, all-human.
With that being said, La Cantante holds a special place in my heart. It's where I got started. Is it a perfectly written story? Hell, no! Lots of drama and too much citrus, but it's where I got my start and I'm proud of it.
Fanfiction and the Twilight fandom has gotten me through so much in the past ten years. It helped me get over my divorce from my narcissistic ex-husband. With your support, I was able to grieve the loss of my mother from lung cancer. I made some of my closest friends, too. I'm so blessed to have you in all in my life. The love I have for my fandom family is immeasurable!
