“Like I said, I’d wait forever for you, Bella,” Edward breathed. “You’re worth it.”
Those words spun in Bella’s head since he said them. He treated her with so much love and respect that Bella struggled with the attention. He was patient, gentle and understanding. He also said that he loved her. She wanted to say it back, but she was terrified that he’d throw it back at her.
Both Bella and Edward got a Covid test because of Tia’s actions. It came back negative, thankfully. Tia was also staying in a fleabag motel because of her actions. Ben was still at the resort but was not being charged.
In addition to the Covid test, Bella got her birth control shot. It was earlier than anticipated, but the doctor was uncertain if he could get back to her in time. Before she got the shot, the doctor insisted on giving her a pregnancy test. Bella was afraid that it would pop up as positive, but in the back of her mind, she didn’t care. She wasn’t ready to be a mom. She was ready to share everything with Edward.
“You’re worth it.”
She was worth it. Years of feeling awful and worthless thanks to her mother’s callous behavior had almost ruined the best thing in her life. She wanted to show him how much she cared, how much she loved him.
“Edward, I have to run to the gift shop. Huilen has a package for me,” Bella said. “Do you need anything?”
“I’m good,” he smiled, giving her a beautiful, crooked grin.
Bella grabbed her wallet, mask and ducked out of their villa. She walked to the main building, waving at Nahuel while he swept the pool deck. She opened the door to the gift shop.
“Hello, Isabella,” Huilen said. “How are you doing?”
“I’m good, but I need some help,” Bella said, looking around the shop. “I’m certain you’ve heard about what happened with me and Edward.”
“It was a bit of drama,” Huilen chuckled. “I’m grateful my husband kicked that vagabunda to the curb. I feel so bad for Mr. Benjamin.”
“He’s been hanging out with me and Edward. He’s mourning the loss of his marriage, but he needs friends. Anyway, Ben managed to get a flight back to Cape Town. He’s leaving tomorrow,” Bella explained. “I think his mom was diagnosed with COVID. He contacted the South African consulate and they’re moving heaven and earth to get him home.”
“That explains why Osvaldo is leaving at three tomorrow morning and why the doctor had to administer another COVID test. He must be driving Mr. Benjamin to the airport, and he needed proof of negative result,” Huilen said. “Now, what can I do for you?”
“Well, I want to give Edward something special. Our relationship took a beating thanks to what happened with Tia. I mean, we’re still together, but we haven’t …” Bella trailed off, blushing furiously.
“You haven’t made love?” Huilen suggested with a coy expression.
“No. We haven’t,” Bella replied, wrinkling her nose. “I want to, but I’m ...” Huilen arched a brow in confusion. “Long story, but I have major trust issues. It takes me a long time to trust someone. I lost that trust with Edward because of what happened with Tia. We’ve worked on us and yeah … So, I want to take that next step.”
